Anniversary Weekend : Russell
Rehearsals are under way for the popular street-theatre Hell Hole of the Pacific event in Russell that re-enacts the bawdy days of Kororāreka of the mid-1800s.
The 30-strong cast has been strengthened by experienced actors from the Stage Door Theatre Company in Kerikeri. The company’s last production was Robin Hood and the Babes in the Wood at the Turner Centre.
Stage Door Artistic Director, David Crewe, said the theatrical company is keen to present community theatre in all its form, not just big-name shows.
“Street theatre like the Hell Hole of the Pacific is a terrific idea and well established on the Russell calendar. It strengthens our collective acting skills and is so much fun to be involved.”
Hell Hole of the Pacific street theatre has three free performances daily – 10am, 12.30pm and 2.00pm – over Anniversary Weekend, 26th and 27th January 2019.
Is there any need for a staight upright eldetly Maori with a fabulous tenor voice ?
