Stage Door’s version of this classic tale is based on the 1991 Academy Award-winning animated Disney film. Belle, a girl who is dissatisfied with life in her small town, is constantly trying to fend off the advances of her suitor, pompous Gaston. The Beast, a handsome prince transformed by a witch’s spell, is forced to hide away in his castle. A wrong turn taken by Maurice, Belle’s father, causes the two to meet, and Belle is thrown into a strange world where enchanted objects come to life, and where the terrifying beast who imprisons her is not at all what he seems. But as they fall for each other, is their time together running out?
